Sustainable Packaging – Yogacycled

We are always on a lookout for more sustainable practices we can use in our business. Last year we have made two big steps towards being more eco-friendly the one was we have started planting trees from each order (read more here) and the second we changed our shipping mailers to sustainable packaging.

Even before we changed our packaging our old mailing envelopes were made out of paper you can be recycled but it still wasn’t 100% perfect. Now meet our 100% biodegradable packaging. Our new envelopes have a lovely matt black finish, they are strong and waterproof, look a lot like plastic envelopes except when left in nature they will biodegrade in a home compost in 3-6 months. Amazing, right?

Now let’s see what our sustainable packaging is made off.

Firstly its made from PLANTS, corn starch to be precise, and other plant waste. The best part of our sustainable packaging is that it can be composted at home! When you’ve finished using the envelope just put it in with your food scraps and garden waste, and before you know it, worms will be eating our packaging for breakfast. Better for the planet, right?

Our sustainable packaging is home compostable, meaning it will be completely degraded by microorganisms in the natural world under compost conditions. Ultimately this generates carbon dioxide and water and does not pollute the environment. The envelopes are perfect in worm farms and will be broken down in a bokashi too.
